Three nights in the month of July (the 15th, 22nd, and 29th) guests at Slate Wine Bar + Bistro enjoyed an interactive dining experience with Chef and Sommelier Danny Lledo, which focused around Spanish culture, wine, and food. Each night this intimate dining demonstration brought together a group of 12 guests and Lledo as he prepared his award winning Paella.
The Spanish dining series included a large tasting of a crab and cuttlefish cake paired with a sweet Sauvignon Blanc. The chef then prepared in front of guests two different Paellas, one with a fish stock and one with pork and chicken. The Paella de Denia was paired with a sweet rose, while the classic Valencian Paella was paired with a delicious Rioja. For dessert, guests were served a perfect profiterole with chocolate ganache and ice cream. While cooking, Chef Lledo spoke about his Spanish background, including his time in Denia and his father's accomplishments as a chef in Spain.
The Slate Wine Bar + Bistro is a modern two-story restaurant hidden in Glover Park. The New American cuisine also incorporates Danny Lledo's Spanish and Portuguese background, as well as his professional training in French cookery. The wine bar also features a 100+ wine selection, as well as a comfortable, authentic atmosphere.
The Dreaming of Denia dining series has one night left! Guests will gather for one more interactive Spanish experience on August 31st at either 6:00pm or 8:30pm. The experience costs $45 per person with an optional $25 wine pairing.
