New to Clarendon: Rabbit and Red Velvet Cupcakery

Rabbit: Slow food fast. With a menu designed by Iron Chef America winner Katsuya Fukushima, Rabbit is bringing fresh food to Clarendon. Whether you are looking for a quick and light lunch or a refreshing dinner, Rabbit will definitely provide.  Rabbit opens in Clarendon tomorrow, and will be giving away free Red Velvet cupcakes from 4p.m. to 8p.m.

I attended the mock services on both Saturday (July 23) and Sunday (July 24) night. I ordered the flank steak sandwich and a glass of Rabbit Juice (fresh squeezed carrot juice mixed with apple juice) on Saturday night and the caprese-watermelon salad on Sunday night. The sandwich was filled with juicy and tender pieces of meat (meant to make your mouth water) and the salad was the perfect choice for DC’s summer heat. Both dishes satisfied my appetite without leaving me feeling full.

And then there’s Red Velvet Cupcakery. Inside the same doors as Rabbit, you can find the same deliciously moist cupcakes that you’ll find at both the Red Velvet location in Penn Quarter (near the Verizon Center) and the location in Reston. They have their namesake, the Red Velvet, along with 12 other flavors (including two vegan-gluten free options)!

Rabbit is less than a block away from the Clarendon metro stop and opens July 28. Be sure to stop in for some Rabbit food!
