Opening: Mockingbird Hill

There's a new place to have drinks before heading over to Howard Theatre in Shaw.  Derek Brown's, Mockingbird Hill, wines you with sherry and dines you with ham.  Get a taste of what Hemingway enjoyed in Spain in this cool bar.  I didn't even know I liked sherry until last night.  Inspired by trips to Madrid, Derek brings the Spanish traditions to us lucky Washingtonians who get to reap the benefits of his travels.  Thanks Derek!

If you're not a sherry fan, have no fear... J.P. Fetherston has whipped up Green Hat gin and tonic on tap.  This isn't just any gin and tonic, it is made with house-made tonic infused with apples and sage and it is the best I've ever had.
The ham is super yummy.  It looks like Spanish ham, but it is actually from West Virginia.
Chantal Tseng knows how to make a mean sherry cocktail.  We loved the PX Sweet Tea.

Bottom line:  Stop in this weekend for some amazing drinks and ham!
