The party must go on... and so it did despite the looming thunder clouds and potential tornado watches in the DC area. The 3rd annual CRAVE Kimpton event, showcasing Kimpton hotels and restaurants in Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland, brought out the sun and fun with it's Caribbean-themed gala, despite the threats of bad weather.
With the sound of calypso music in the air, guests sampled fresh and vibrant treats served from the open air kitchen. Favorites included the shredded pork slider, tender and succulent with a crispy slaw topping and the roast corn on the cob with a spicy aioli dressing.
Mixologists from various Kimpton restaurants prepared delicious cocktails to enjoy throughout the evening. Following the theme of the event, pink, refreshing and delicious, it was lots of fun to go around and sample the various creations.
My favorite cocktail of the evening was the Grille Anjou created by mixologist Rosen Ivanov and consisted of grey goose le poire, simple syrup, fresh lime, sage leaves, pear and ginger ale. Wonderfully constructed, it had a light sweet flavor followed by a bright note with the ginger ale and lime. A perfect drink for the summer.
It was a great evening filled with delicious food, tasty cocktails and fun for all! Cheers to Kimpton's annual CRAVE celebration and a toast to another year of splendid hospitality.
