BONMi with a Twist

by Amanda Brashears

Taking traditional banh mi and giving them an interesting twist is how BONMi is (re)introducing DC to the tasty Vietnamese sandwiches. Serving the most tender varieties of chicken, pork, and beef as well as spicy tofu and vegetables on local Lyon Bakery bread, BONMi has reignited our affair with the everyday lunch.
They even offer a nontraditional Pork Slaw Mi that gives a new take on a classic combination.
Not in the mood for a sandwich? BONMi also offers the options of a rice bowl, salad or rice noodles all topped with the traditional BONMi fixings.

Don’t forget to grab a Vietnamese Iced Coffee to keep you going through quitting time.
We were also given the opportunity to create our own BONMi, with my spicy BBQ chicken BONMi entry above.
Although I was not the winner (so close!) I can say the winning sandwich is a knockout. The "Enlightened Special" will not only be offered the entire month of July, but all proceeds from its sales will benefit The Children’s National Medical Center.

Head on out to BONMi to enjoy the lunch you shouldn’t be missing!
