STK has finally arrived in DC and is most definitely not a place that you should miss! This is STK's eighth location, following restaurants in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami and London. STK is a great mix of a steakhouse with a lounge feel. For the grand opening event hundreds of DC residents were given the opportunity to try some bite-sized portions of STK's signature dishes, as well as their signature drinks.
I started the evening by tasting the Sterling Silver signature beverage with Patron, St Germain and fresh lime. I enjoyed the signature cocktail's fruity and fresh flavor, without being too sweet. Their other signature cocktail of the night was the Green Intensity, with Belvedere vodka, fresh lime and jalapeños, which makes for a unique drink that other attendees were raving about.
The food was delicious and the small sizes allowed me to try many of the different options. My favorite by far were the Lil BRG's with STK's signature "special sauce" on a sesame seed bun. The Wagyu beef is the highest quality and I would absolutely love to return to STK to eat one of the best burger's I have ever eaten.
Other notable small plates were the Tuna Tartare and the Parmesan Truffle Fries. The Tuna Tartare was served in a small spoon with a soy honey emulsion. The sweet and slightly salty sauce paired nicely with the raw tuna. I got to sample the Parmesan Truffle Fries as they came fresh from the kitchen and were still steaming hot. I love french fries and these are definitely worth returning for, they came served on a plate stacked like Jenga pieces, and had the perfect amount of flavor with the parmesan sprinkled on top.
Overall, STK was a hit and I believe it fits a missing piece of the restaurant puzzle, since DC has mainly old-fashioned steakhouses. This still has top of the line STK, but with a younger feel perfect of the young professional crowd in Washington, DC. The restaurant is located conveniently near the heart of Dupont Circle and is now open to the public.
