Taste of Three Cities hosted an all-out foodie festival in D.C.’s NoMa district as part of its new Food Truck Triumvirate to find D.C.’s number one food truck. The winner will go on to Philadelphia and Baltimore, respectively to compete with the winning food trucks from Philadelphia and Baltimore competing for the Taste of Three Cities Triple Crown award and a $2,500 grand prize.
More than 15 food trucks from across the city participated in the day's events offering food selections such as lobster rolls, pizza, cheese curds, bbq, and bahn mi sandwiches.
During the event, foodies could vote for their favorite food truck to win the popular vote award. It was a hard call to make but in the end, my vote went to BONMi. I have a special place in my heart for sriracha and pickled cabbage. And of course, I couldn't help but find something sweet to end with... salted caramel cupcakes from Flavor Cupcakery did the trick.
After it was all said and done (and no one could eat any more...), Kommie Pig won the competition for the best DC food truck.
Congratulations to all the food trucks in the competition and looking forward to seeing who comes out on top at the next stop in Philadelphia on May 9th!
