On Friday, June 5th, National Doughnut Day, District Doughnut plans to celebrate by supporting its neighbors on Barracks Row - the United States Marine Corps. 100% of proceeds from sales of the Vanilla Bean Glazed doughnut, which will be offered for $1, will go directly to the Semper Fi Fund for injured U.S. Armed Forces members.
Zentan has launched monthly F&B classes—alternating between chef-focused and bar-focused classes—and on June 6th the restaurant will host a special Negroni Week cocktail class. Lead Bartender Matt Allred will host the class, making his Handlebars cocktail, recently featured in Food & Wine Magazine, which includes a house made Campari fruit roll-up. 'Late Night at Daikaya' returns on Saturday, June 6th offering up a nod to NOLA with a traditional Crawfish Boil done Daikaya-style, New Orleans-inspired sips, sweets, and music from DJ Smudge. From 11AM to 1AM hosted on the 2nd floor in Daikaya's izakaya (705 6th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001; Phone: (202) 589-1600; www.Daikaya.com; @DaikayaDC) guests will enjoy a traditional crawfish boil complete with corn, potatoes, onions, and more. The feast will be served up alongside melted butter, Louisiana hot sauce, and even a secret sauce made in-house by the Daikaya team. An assortment of ice cold New Orleans beers will also be available as well as a classic frozen boozy beverage taking guests right back to Bourbon Street in one sip. And for a sweet finish, Chef Fukushima will be preparing a creative twist on Bananas Foster with vanilla soft serve.
