Event: The Rammy Awards Gala is this Weekend!

The DC food event of the year is this Sunday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. This is my absolute favorite day of the year – celebrating the best restaurants in the District with the biggest foodies in town. So many hard working individuals and organizations are up for awards this year in over twenty different categories.

Dining Out: Plant-Based Options at Silver

Living in NW DC, I was always trying to find a good neighborhood spot around the area to walk to with friends. Silver has become my go-to spot.

A Few of My Favorite Things: My Go-To Spot Before Capital One Arena Events

Dirty Habit, a luxe restaurant and bar in Washington, D.C.’s Penn Quarter neighborhood, is where you’ll find me after work. The spot offers a vivid social scene, a high-end cocktail program, delicious eats, and a beautiful private urban patio. The space is located literally 180 steps from the Capital One Arena - but is tucked away in the perfect spot.

Dining Out: The Best Thai in DC You Didn’t Know About

I grew up eating Thai food. Every Sunday night I knew I would be hopping in the car with my 8-person family and driving to the hole-in-the-wall Thai place in my hometown.

Game Day at the Greene Turtle

Football is back, which means finding the perfect DC sports bar with happy hour specials is key! I love heading over to the Greene Turtle in Chinatown for their awesome deals—including their $3 Pints, $4 No Way Jose Ritas, and $5 Crushes.

Dining Out: Happy 1 Year Anniversary Wilson Hardware!

One year ago this month, the three-tiered contemporary American kitchen and bar honoring the 60s Virginia Hardware shop opened up in Clarendon. Although I knew this place was fun and delicious, I couldn’t believe how popular and trendy the spot had become in just one year! The restaurant was packed to celebrate one incredible year in the Arlington neighborhood.

Dining Out: NEW Silver American Brasserie

Co-founders Chef Ype Von Hengst and Bob Glaimo have opened another Silver location in the DC area! Originally known for creating the Silver Diner, Glaimo and Von Hengst have created a New American Brasserie that brings the old-fashioned feel of a diner with giant burgers, sandwiches, homemade sodas and shakes. However, this new spin on a diner has an updated style and flavor profile, with craft cocktails, flexitarian options, all day brunch, a beautiful outdoor patio, and fresh, locally sourced foods. This new farm-to-table diner is located in the Cathedral Commons neighborhood, near American University and the National Cathedral.

Happy Hour Review: Jaleo

Recently, some friends and I went to Jaleo in Bethesda for happy hour (or Jaleo Hour--yes, it really is called that). Featuring red wine sangria for $4 a glass and small plates for also $4, Jaleo is a great place to relax and enjoy the early evening. While I found the sangria to be bland, the small plates were delicious. My favorites were the Croquetas de pollo (chicken fritters) and the Gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce). Jaleo has numerous locations throughout the DMV, so grab some friends and head on over!
