InternsROCK!

Attention Interns:  Get some deals for all of your hard work.  Capital Cooking is excited to have Eric Wilkens starting with us this summer.  He's already been adding some great blog posts.  Keep up the good work.

We'll miss Diana, Paula and Simone this summer!  Capital Cooking would not be possible without the help of our fabulous interns so I'm happy to tell you about the InternsROCK! program.

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) will host the second annual InternsROCK! program in Washington, DC, June 10 – 19, 2011.  A city-wide intern appreciation week, the initiative honors the approximately 20,000 interns who congregate to the nation’s capital each summer. As a way to give back to interns, local businesses will offer discounts at restaurants, museums, sporting venues, concert halls, retail outlets and other attractions.

Throughout the week, venues will offer discounts to interns wearing InternsROCK! wristbands. This year, InternsROCK! has been expanded to include several special events, new student workshops and partnerships with community businesses and the local business improvement districts. A list of participating businesses is available at www.internsrockdc.com and follow InternsROCK! on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/InternsROCK) and Foursquare (https://foursquare.com/user/9750473) for up-to-the-minute updates.

While more than 570 interns from 400 academic institutions will receive wristbands at the beginning of June, InternsROCK! is not exclusive to TWC students. Wristbands will be distributed free of charge to interns and their supervisors from June 6 - June 9, 2010 from 9 am to 7 pm at TWC’s headquarters located at 1333 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036 or at TWC’s Residential and Academic Facility from 10 am to 11 pm located at 1005 3rd Street NE, Washington, DC 20002.

Businesses can get involved by offering eligible discounts and can register online at www.internsrockdc.com/call-4-participation. For more information about becoming a participating business, please contact Meredith Michalek at (202) 238-7924.
