Event: Lamb Jam on May 22nd

The American Lamb Board is springing into action in 2011 to unite dozens of local Washington DC chefs for the first annual American Lamb Jam on Sunday, May 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton. I'll be judging this fun event.

Participating chefs will create luscious lamb dishes paired with local beers and wine from Washington State Wine to compete for bragging rights and the opportunity to battle other top lamb loving chefs at a Master Lamb Jam in New York City on September 25, 2011. Guests will learn about lamb through a butchery demonstration by Pam Ginsberg from Wagshal’s and honored chefs will take home awards for “Best in Show” for each of four lamb cuts, including leg, loin, shank and shoulder and a “People’s Choice” award, determined by attending fans of lamb.

Participating restaurants include: 701, 1789 (guest on Capital Cooking), AGAINN, Bastille, Bibiana, BLT Steak, Bourbon Steak, Café Atlantico, Eatwell DC, Eric Ripert's West End Bistro at Ritz Carlton, Galileo III, Jackson 20 & Grille at The Morrison House, Lebanese Taverna, Occidental Grill & Seafood, Restaurant Nora, Trummers on Main, Urbana, Vidalia and Zaytinya.

Participating beverages / breweries include: Foggy Ridge Cider, Flying Dog Brewery, Heavy Seas Brewery and Washington State Wine.
