Guide to Carmel, CA

Hop on a flight to California and enjoy the charm and relaxation of Carmel, CA.

How to Get There:  After a beautiful trip to Napa/Sonoma, we headed south for a quick drive to Carmel, CA.  The drive town the Pacific Coast Highway has to be the most spectacular in the country.
Where to Stay:  We stayed in town at the Normandy Inn.  This no frills hotel has a great location for viewing the art, eating at the restaurants and shopping around town.  There's free breakfast, but it is pretty limited.
Delicious Burgers from 400 Degrees
Where to Eat:  Our favorite meal in Carmel was at Cantinetta Luca.
Giant onion rings from 400 Degrees

How about that sundae?  Find it at 400 Degrees.
400 Degrees serves delicious burgers.  They have the freshest ingredients and it is an awesome family restaurant.
Check out breakfast at Little Swiss Cafe.
Stop into Sushi Heaven for a healthy lunch.
Where to Drink:  You can get a Carmel wine pass and go on a wine walk before dinner.  The wines aren't really comparable to the wine we drank in Napa/Sonoma, but they are still pretty decent.

#babycapcook liked the bath tub in Dawn's Dream tasting room.
We stopped into Dawn's Dream, Figge Cellars, and Caraccioli Cellars.

We also drove inland and checked out Jarman.  Their wine was the best in Carmel.
What to Do:  HIKING!  The hiking is phenomenal.  We loved Big Sur and Point Lobos State Reserve.  Wear long pants because there is lots of poison oak on trails.  It is a town of relaxation and leisure.  Walk around the charming streets.  Swing into art galleries.  Shop in local stores.  Stroll along the beach.
