Eating and Drinking Around Town: Mom's Visit

My lovely mother flew in for a visit to DC.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.  I planned lots of tasty meals and fun activities.

We began our weekend with dinner at Zaytinya.  Zaytinya offers a lively atmosphere with great natural light.

The waiter talked us into ordering the brussel sprouts even though everyone at the table were not typically fans.  He loved them so much that he said if we didn't like them he'd take them off of our bill.  He was right.  We liked the crispy texture and yogurt sauce.

We left Zaytinya to meet friends for drinks at Vinoteca.  I was embarrassed that I did not realize one of my neighborhood spots had such a fun back patio.  We had a couple of glasses of vino and headed home to get some rest before our big day at the winery.

We borrowed a sleek pearl Chevy Malibu and cruised out to Virginia to enjoy the day at Doukenie Winery.  They have one of the most beautiful properties.  Such a lovely setting to sip.

We had a wonderful day at the winery and headed back home for some lamb.  I whipped up an herb roasted rack of lamb and pasta with lasagna style noodles from Smucker Farms.  Yum!

We ended the weekend with a Mother's Day Brunch at the Daily Grill.  The fresh squeezed orange juice mimosas were the best I've ever had.  The new blackened shrimp bloody mary is spicy and delicious.  Mom loved her Filet Oscar with asparagus, crab cakes and mashed potatoes.  The eggs in the Eggs Benedict were cooked just right.  Stop into Daily Grill for graduation weekend for some amazing deals!

After brunch we strolled around Georgetown and got our nails done at Mimosa.  It was such a fun weekend!
