First Taste: Sugo Cicchetti-Rockville's Newest Restaurant

By Lauren Ritterman

The new Central Plaza at Park Potomac is a welcomed addition to Rockville’s usually quiet dining scene.  The Grand pre-Opening event at SugoCicchetti was a huge success and an exciting preview of a vibrant new restaurant that will cater to a wide variety of age groups and food preferences.  The restaurant is part of the Cava group and offers the same quality ingredients and exceptional service that you’ll find at Cava and Cava Grill.

SugoCicchetti, Cicchetti- meaning small plates in Italian, serves up fresh wood fired Neapolitan style pizza’s and Italian inspired small plates.  The food is homemade and very fresh, the concept it creative, and the atmosphere and fun and trendy.   Besides their pizza, the restaurant serves everything tapas style, and they really do have something for everyone.  From homemade gnocchi and lasagna to cold smoked salmon topped with lentils as well as green eggs and ham (which was my personal favorite), you will find something for everyone to enjoy.

There is nothing simple or ordinary about the menu.  Everything seems to be a fresh take on your authentic Italian classics.  When ordering the meatballs you have the choice of getting them over polenta, Sicilian style, or as sliders.   The Margarita pizza is served with Buffalo Mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, and fresh basil, and the gnocchi is homemade with a truffle cream sauce and basil.  You get fresh ingredients and delicious food, but at a reasonable price.

And if that was not enough, the drink and dessert menu take the restaurant to another level.  With new creations like cotton candy martini’s and Prosecco on tap, you won’t find another restaurant like this around.

The food was absolutely delicious, and I can’t speak highly enough of the service.  Sugo opened May 2nd
