If you live or work in NOVA you will be very pleasantly surprised by the brand new shopping, dining, residential, and entertainment mecca that has sprung up alongside Lee Highway at the the intersection of Gallows Road. For my first trip to the Mosaic District, I attended their inaugural Mosaic Fashion Night and was very pleasantly surprised.
Bow tied bartender pouring bubbly at Langford Market |
The event featured a DJ and live models showing off some of the offerings from the the Mosaic retailers. These retailers include Anthropologie, South Moon Under (which hosted a book signing with the fashion blogger behind Cupcakes + Cashmere), Last Call Studio by Neiman Marcus, Langford Market and more. A portion of the events proceeds went to Starlight Children's Foundation. Slightly reminiscent of the Reston Town Center with it's cornerstone Hyatt, this outdoor shopping center could be a savior for the locals with practical stores such as Target and Mom's Organic Market.
One of Angelika's concession stands |
My favorite part of the Mosiac District is the Angelika Film Center and Cafe. I always appreciate those rare theaters that offer above and beyond the traditional refreshments. Angelika draws you in with it's bright modern structure and it's gourmet concession stand serving caramel popcorn, beer on tap, wine, and much more will keep you coming back. Never again will you have to sit through those retched trivia games in a dark theater, the Angelika Lounge offers a prize instead of punishment for your early arrival to your movie. With a lot of impressive feature films coming up, I'm really looking forward to making a night of it with friends at the Angelika.
