Celebrate “Repeal Day” at Jack Rose Dining Saloon:  Raise a glass (and a fork!) at Jack Rose Dining Saloon’s Repeal Day celebration on Wednesday, December 5th.  The Saloon is featuring a four-course, 1920’s-inspired tasting menu for only $20 from 5-10pm accompanied by rare draft beers such as Goose Island Bourbon County Stout.  In addition to dinner, Jack Rose’s Repeal Day Party starts at 10pm till 1am in the “Roosevelt Room” with bottomless bubbles; specials on classic cocktails and cigars; and the never-before-seen Basement Punch Bar, a soon-to-open private bar which will offer prohibition-priced punch, specialty whiskeys and burlesque performances.  Tickets to the party are $20 and are complimentary for tasting menu diners.   Reservations must be made for the $20 four-course tasting dinner on December 5th by calling 202-588-7388 or emailing info@jackrosediningsaloon.com. Capitol City Brewing Company is kicking off the holiday season and ushering in the winter months with the tapping of the original popular seasonal favorite Fuel beer. Fuel is Capitol City’s full-bodied imperial coffee stout – a complex dark malt blended with coffee. On Thursday, December 6, the local brewpub will host a celebratory tapping party at its Shirlington Village location to roll out its very own Fuel beer from 6:00-9:00 p.m. One week later, on December 13 the Downtown DC location will likewise re-introduce Fuel and host an equally festive tapping event from 6:00-9:00p.m.Food and drink specials will last throughout the evening including $2 Cap City’s “Core Four” beers (Capitol Kölsch, Pale Rider Ale, Amber Waves Ale and Prohibition Porter) at the Shirlington Village location. If you’re a soccer fan, then head to the newly-opened Drafting Table this weekend for Fútbol Weekend Brunch. Washingtonian native Aaron Gordon, owner of Drafting Table, is kicking off this brunch on Saturday, December 1st at 8 AM with West Ham United vs. Chelsea followed by Arsenal vs. Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur vs. Fulham at 10 AM. Guests will be able to watch their favorite European fútbol teams on the restaurant’s three flat screen TVs while enjoying an eclectic brunch menu prepared by Executive Chef Ciji Wagner. Customers who come in for breakfast on December 1st, between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM, will receive a complimentary Sexy Egg Sandwich with herb aioli, roasted red peppers, arugula and prosciutto, as well as $5 Bloody Marys along with the full brunch menu. The Fútbol Weekend Brunch is available Saturdays and Sundays from 8 AM until the last game is played. Gingerbread Houses for a Good CauseRIS is hosting a gingerbread house workshop to benefit DC Central Kitchen on Saturday, December 15 at 12 noon.  Guests will have the chance to build their own gingerbread house, learn the tricks from the masters and enjoy holiday treats.   RIS will provide all the gingerbread house equipment while the pastry team will be serving seasonal ice creams, chocolate macaroons, gingerbread cake, and RIS’ house cocoa made with mint marshmallows.  Participation is guaranteed through a $20 per person donation.  All proceeds will benefit DC Central Kitchen.  Space for this special event is extremely limited.
