Wine Wednesday: Vendetta

Have you tried Francis Ford Coppola's Vendetta?  I love the packaging!  The winery is excellent at marketing and making wine fun.

Forged in the back rooms and secret alleyways of a bygone era, Vendetta’s bold full-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from California’s Mendocino County and Malbec from Monterey County is reminiscent of the Prohibition-age of which it was inspired.

A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino County and 34% Malbec from Monterey County, Vendetta’s inaugural vintage is abundantly spicy with notes of pepper and toasted wood, boasting juicy fruit, a velvety mouthfeel and supple tannins. Its intriguing nose of lavender, leather and graphite blends with rich layers of cassis, cherries and wild raspberries make Vendetta concentrated yet elegant, mysterious yet inviting.

The 2013 Vendetta retails for $24.95 SRP and may be purchased at participating restaurants and retailers or at the winery.

Pairing:  canapés, spaghetti alla Bolognese, tangy spare ribs, grilled lamb chops or stuffed mushrooms.
