Pizzeria Paradiso Turns 20

The region’s originator of Neapolitan style pizza, Pizzeria Paradiso is celebrating the big 2-0 this November with a week-long celebration of special events.  Since its opening day in Dupont Circle on November 8, 1991, the popular pizzeria has become a Washington Culinary Institution – pioneering traditional, wood-fired pizza in the DC area coupled with setting the bar for excellence and consistency.

A second location, in historic Georgetown, opened in December 2002 and the much anticipated Virginia arrival of the third restaurant, located in Old Town Alexandria opened in October, 2010.  Due to customer demand, in 2005, the pizzeria introduced Birreria Paradiso – a new concept offering a wide variety of the world’s finest beers, to be paired with Pizzeria Paradiso’s renowned Neapolitan style pizza.

Notable Chef and Owner Ruth Gresser has been the recipient of numerous awards of distinctions and has been recognized in both the local and industry media.  She has been a chef demonstrator, contributor and panelist for The Smithsonian Institution and for FreshFarm Markets here in Washington.  Ruth is also a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and a member of the Board of Directors of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs.

The restaurant is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with a week-long celebration of ‘20 Something’ events, specials and contests November 7-13, 2011.
