Special Week of Deals to Benefit Brainfood

The social buying site Deals For Deeds (www.dealsfordeeds.com) announced it’s second annual “H Street Cares: A Week to Benefit Brainfood” today, a special week of deals which will take place November 14-20, 2011.

Some of DC’s most popular restaurants and bars located along the H Street Corridor will be featured and 15% of every purchase will directly support Brainfood, a non-profit youth development organization in Washington, DC. Using food as a tool, Brainfood builds life skills and promotes healthy living in a fun and safe environment.  The goal of the week is to raise $6,000 for the organization, which will provide chef coats, knives, cutting boards and other equipment for the launch of Brainfood Community MVPs, Brainfood’s newest program that empowers youth to teach others in the community to cook and eat healthy foods.

The owners of five top-notch establishments in DC have put together exclusives offerings to make the week possible.  Once again Deals For Deeds spearheaded the effort with the dedicated support of local chef and restaurateur Teddy Folkman, chef-owner of Granville Moore’s and a Brainfood guest chef for almost ten years.  This year’s participants include:

  • Dr. Granville Moore’s: $30 for $50 to spend.
  • Toki Underground: $20 for $35 to spend.
  • The Argonaut: $20 for $35 to spend.
  • Inspire BBQ: $10 for $20 to spend.
  • Fruit Bat: $15 for $30 to spend.

Deals For Deeds presents a new and innovative use of the social-buying concept, enhancing it with a socially conscious mission by integrating a fundraising platform. While offering exclusive discounts, Deals For Deeds donates a portion of each purchase to non-profit organizations.  Last year’s H Street Cares promotion raised over $5,000. To date, Deals For Deeds has raised around $40,000 for DC area non-profits.
