By: Amanda Brashears

One of the DC areas hottest cooking events is almost here, so mark your calendars. The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show is November 3rd and 4th at the Convention Center. With cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs Giada DeLaurentiisMichael SymonCarla HallGail SimmonsTom ColicchioJeff MauroClaudine Pepin and Jacques Pepin this is truly a must for any food lover. Many other local chefs will also provide demonstrations, so get your tickets early.  We'll be having a contest to win free tickets so check back soon!

Cubra Libre hosted a Metro Cooking DC preview with Chef-Partner Guillermo Pernot, who is also among the chefs giving presentations, offering a delicious assortment of sandwiches. This was a nod to the special guest of the night.

Via Skype we had a visit from Jeff Mauro, 'The Sandwich King,' who was surprised with a sandwich sent to him direct from Chef Pernot. Jeff is very excited to be coming back to DC and will be cooking a menu using beer.

Another highlight of the evening was the swag bag of goodies from some of the vendors who will be at The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show this year. Here are some of my favorites:

A Bit More: What drew me to these cookies was the beautiful painting on each one. These sugar cookies were perfect with tea and would make a wonderful gift or favor. It is also local, making it even easier to acquire their goods. Springfield, VA 703-644-2015 A Bit More

Wisteria Gardens: If you like flavor with your heat pick up a bottle of the Serrano Ginger Pepper Sauce. Perfect for anyone who is looking for something more than just another hot sauce. Wisteria Gardens offers many great products and can also be found at several Farmers Markets in the area. Berkley Springs, WV 304-258-1674 Wisteria Gardens

Picky Vicki: Offering up several styles of BBQ sauce, I tried the Nice N' Sweet which was very, very good. It is made of 100% all natural ingredients and will pair well with a variety of meats. Bel Air, MD 443-876-4793 Picky Vicki

Pancha Dulce: These delicious, chewy cookies were the perfect snack after a rough day of work. The chewy coconut was my favorite. Good thing they're so close to home! Falls Church, VA 703-534-7574 Pancha Dulce

Foster Fine Foods: The olive oil from Foster is the best I have ever tasted. With its rich, fruity flavor you can tell it was pressed with love. Perfect for dipping fresh bread or topping a dish for that extra flavor. Atlanta, GA 404-405-6089 Foster Fine Foods

So not only will you get a chance to see live cooking demonstrations, but you will also get a chance to check out some great products from the many vendors who will be on hand. Grab a few friends to bring along because you definitely do not want to miss this exciting 2-day event. For more information and to purchase tickets please go to Metro Cooking DC
