Dine Out With Your Vine Out: Don Ciccio e Figli

Last night I checked out Francesco Amodeo's newest venture, Don Ciccio e Figli.  He currently has a line of six Italian-inspired artisanal liqueurs ("Rosoli") and he makes them by hand right here in DC.

My favorite was the Concerto flavor.  Francesco traveled back to the Amalfi Coast to visit the monks of Convento Di Francesco di Tramonti to find the mysterious recipe.  This dark liquer is is obtained by soaking in alcohol for 60 days a "Concert" of 15 herbs and spices, barley coffee and espresso.  The Concerto is smooth and delicious!
He showed us how to make the Rosoli.  I got to peel lemons.  Eventually he plans to have over 45 sweet and savory flavors.  Thanks for sharing your grandfather's treasures with us!

Current flavors include Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Concerto (Barley & Espresso), Prickly Pear, Fennel, and Hibiscus.
