Georgetown's 10th Annual French Market returns to the charming Book Hill neighborhood on upper Wisconsin Ave, between P Street and Reservoir Road, on Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with fashion finds, French fare, quaint shops, galleries and live music. A charming weekend for shoppers, foodies and families, more than 40 shops and cafes will come together for spring's most exciting shopping and entertainment event.  Highlights include up to 80% off at sidewalk sales at a variety of Book Hill shops and boutiques, the neighborhood's best restaurants grilling up French merguez sausages, filling sweet and savory crepes and serving fresh French pastries, and live music, strolling mimes and other street entertainers.  Come discover all that a French market has to offer!

chef David Guas, is hosting his 3rd Annual spring- and summer-long Crawfish Boil series at his Arlington, VA hangout, Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery. With the advice of his farmers and fishermen friends down the road from his Aunt Boo’s house in Louisiana, chef David has selected Saturday, April 20 for the first boil. The patio party will get started with live entertainment compliments of Laissez Foure, a New Orleans-style jazz quartet. Abita Beer will be pouring by the pitcher-full – the perfect accompaniment to cool the taste buds from the seasoned Crawfish, served with Corn on the Cobpeppery New Potatoesand all the Louisiana Spice you can handle. José Andrés and Zaytinya invites you to the Greek agora, or Greek Outdoor Market, on April 21st (11AM-4PM) and 22nd (6PM-10PM). The annual Greek Easter celebration and open market will feature Greek artisanal goods from local vendors including Greek honey and sea salts from Demeter’s Pantry; Mastiha products from Mastihashop NY; olive oils from Kaldes Bros Trading Company andManoli Canoli; pastries from Baklava Couture; lamb offerings from Border Springs Farm; and wine and spirits from Dionysos Imports, Metaxa Brandy, and Ktima Pavlidis Wines. Pepe food truck will be serving the special lamb shoulder ($9). Eat for a good cause at a participating restaurant for the 17th annual Dining Out for Life fundraiser on Thursday, April 25th, 2013. Join thousands of diners from across North America to stand up against HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses by sitting down at local restaurants that have pledged 25% to 110% of the day’s proceeds to directly benefit Food & Friends’ programs and clients. Food and Friends provides specialized meals, nutrition counseling and friendship to people living with serious illnesses in our nation's capital and surrounding areas. Since 1988, Food and Friends has provided more than 15.8 million meals to more 22,600 individuals, and has helped family members, friends, and loved ones provide care and support. Last year, more than 25,000 diners, restaurants and volunteers participated in Dining Out for Life and raised more than $300,000. Jaleo will host its first ever foosball tournament, the Bocata Classic, between the hours of 1pm and 2pm (lunchtime). The Trust for the National Mall will host the 5th Anniversary Ball on the Mall on May 4, from 6-11:30 pm on the National Mall at Madison Drive and 13th Street, NW. The annual Ball on the Mall is a signature fundraising event for the Trust for the National Mall, the official non-profit partner of the National Park Service dedicated to raising awareness of and funds for the restoration and improvement of the National Mall. Nearly 1,000 guests are expected to attend this year’s Ball – the only black-tie event held on the grounds of the National Mall.
