Celebrating Sasha Bruce Youthwork at 9005 Durham Drive

Can you think of anything more fun than spending an evening in a beautiful, brand-new estate, eating gourmet food, drinking great wine, and celebrating the 40th anniversary of an organization that works to improve the lives of the vulnerable youth in DC? I can’t either, and that’s why I was so pleased to attend the 9005 Durham Drive Preview Party, hosted by the Fleisher Group and Capitol File Magazine on behalf of Capital Cooking. This was, without a doubt, a night to remember.

This event was held at 9005 Durham Drive in Potomac, MD. A Niroo Masterpiece estate, the home was constructed by renowned and premier builder David Niroo and internationally acclaimed Haleh Design. The elegant property is 33,000 sq. feet, and was the perfect place to host this wonderful event. Aston Martin, one of the co-sponsors of this event, featured two beautiful Aston Martins that greeted guests as they arrived at the estate.

Design Cuisine provided a gourmet dining experience for all guests that evening. From the beef, blue cheese, & caramelized onion bites to the sashimi table to the cream of cauliflower soup to the lamb and cannellini beans to the lobster soup with gnocchi and tomato, among others – all of the food served that evening tasted excellent and was presented beautifully.

Desserts were also excellent. I had the opportunity to sample two of the desserts that were being passed around the room, and while I loved the French vanilla ice cream “sandwich,” the s’mores-like shooter was my favorite – toasted marshmallow mixed with chocolate and graham crackers. Absolutely delicious.

Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA was featured at this event. The 2012 Chardonnay proved a delicious accompaniment to the lobster soup, and the Metropolitan Jets-sponsored champagne toast was accompanied by the Trump Blanc de Blanc. The Blanc de Blanc is made with Chardonnay grapes via the Méthode Champenoise, and I found this wine incredibly crisp and refreshing. I’d never had Trump wine before tonight, and was very impressed by both wines.

Sasha Bruce Youthwork celebrated its 40th anniversary this evening, and it was heartwarming to learn about this lovely organization and the work it does to improve the lives of homeless, runaway, abused and neglected youth and their families in the Washington DC area. Sasha Bruce Youthwork focuses on promoting safe homes, tomorrow’s leaders, building opportunities, healthy lives, and stable families. An organization dedicated to such a worthy cause deserved a fantastic soiree, and this evening certainly delivered.
