Don't Miss Taste of the Nation!

Calling all foodies and philanthropists: Tickets are now on sale for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation® Washington, DC. This year’s event will be held March 31, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m, at the National Building Museum. The highly anticipated annual tasting event, which supports Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign to end childhood hunger in America, will feature the District’s top chefs, sommeliers and mixologists united for a cause: making sure all children in this nation have the healthy food they need, every day.

More than 1,600 guests expected to attend will have the opportunity to brush shoulders with the city’s most influential in the food and drink scene and taste their signature fare and spirits. Culinary tastemakers leading the 2014 event include chefs Victor Albisu (Del Campo, Taco Bamba), Scott Drewno (The Source), Nick Stefanelli (Bibiana) and Bryan Voltaggio (VOLT, Range and Family Meal), as well as mixologists Gina Chersevani (Hank’s Oyster Bar on The Hill and Buffalo and Bergen) and Derek Brown (Mockingbird Hill, Eat the Rich, Southern Efficiency and The Passenger), and sommelier Nadine Brown (Charlie Palmer Steak). VIP and VIP Plus guests will enjoy an exclusive preview hour beginning at 6:00 pm, and all guests will enjoy live DJ entertainment, interactive mixology and the chance to win luxury auction items.

To enter, dine out at one (or several) of Taste of the Nation Washington, DC’s participating restaurants, take a photo of your meal and tweet it to @TOTNationDC, including the restaurant’s Twitter handle and #NoKidHungry, for the chance to win a pair of VIP tickets to the event. One in five children in this country struggles with hunger, including more than 31,000 kids in Washington, DC. The good news is that this is a solvable problem. The No Kid Hungry campaign is ending childhood hunger in thisnation by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day by connecting them to nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals and by teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable meals at home. 

Since summer 2011, No Kid Hungry efforts to expand access to summer meals and school breakfast have helped connect kids to more than 34 million additional meals. The No Kid Hungry campaign is replicating the success around the country by working collaboratively with its partners to feed more kids.

In 2013, Taste of the Nation Washington, DC raised over $185,000, which can help connect children in need with up to 1,850,000 meals.

One hundred percent of ticket proceeds from Taste of the Nation Washington, DC benefit the No Kid Hungry campaign, thanks to generous support from National Presenting Sponsor Sysco, National Sponsors American Express, Food Network, Kikkoman Sales USA, Inc., OpenTable, S.Pellegrino Natural Sparkling Water and local sponsors Chapman Technology Group, inc.
