Dining Out: Fat Pete's Barbecue

By Claire Goldman

Fat Pete's Barbecue opened in Cleveland Park in July.  Fat Pete's, a sister restaurant of Cleveland Park Bar and Grill, celebrates the BBQ flavors and recipes from across the country.

Fat Pete's has 14 taps, three of which are occupied by Oktoberfest brews for the season.
We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and ABT's, affectionately dubbed "BBQ Crack" and rightfully so!  They are a delicious combination of smoke, spice and cooling cream cheese.
For the main course, the 2 Meat Platter has a long list of smoked, pulled, sliced, rubbed and honey glazed options.  I highly recommend the glazed spare ribs.  Taste all of Fat Pete's homemade sauces or your server will help guide you to the one that usually matches your meat. The Alabama White sauce is a very unique and very tasty.

Along with two carnivorous choices you get to pick two sides.  The Grits are to die for and the goat cheese Hush Puppies with honey butter, mac and cheese and onion strings are very solid options as well.

Left room for dessert?  Try the Banana Pudding with whipped cream and vanilla wafer cookies.
Fat Pete's is an excellent addition to the Cleveland Park neighborhood for an easy and affordable dining experience with several sandwich and 1 Meat platter options under $12 and BBQ by the pound to go.  There's also an upstairs area with a bar and several TVs for large groups, calling all sports fans!

Go to their website to ogle their full menu and check out upcoming events.
