Eating and Drinking Around Town: Lincoln, Taste of Iceland, and Cliff Lede Dinner

Lincoln turned 1 and had a party to celebrate!  We enjoyed delicious cocktails including the Moscow Mule and small bites.  Loved the hush-puppies stuffed with crab meat.

Chef Freyr Vigfusson from Iceland cooked at Ris last week and featured a Taste of Iceland menu. The Icelandic Arctic Char served with pickled cucumber, sprinkled with grinded dried “Söl”Icelandic seaweed and estragon flavored aioli was amazing! Not only did it have a beautiful presentation, it was so refreshing and offered the perfect combination of textures. The Viking Skyr Tiramisu was a wonderful ending to the meal. It had an Icelandic Skyr-and cream cheese mousse with spicy cake coffee syrup and coffee ice cream. Yum! (Skyr is a cultured dairy product unique to Iceland - a staple since the Vikings. Skyr is fat-free, fresh and creamy, thicker than yogurt and made from nutritive-rich skim milk)  Makes me want to go back to Iceland for more Food and Fun!

The Capital Wine Festival went out with a bang for the last dinner featuring Cliff Lede Vineyards.  My favorite dish was the Chestnut Gnocchi with Braised Veal Cheeks and Honey Mushrooms paired with a 2008 Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon, Stags Leap District.  I was extremely impressed with the Cliff Lede wines and 2100 Prime delivered a delicious pairing menu!
