Hurry in before it closes!

Say it ain't so! I was hoping they'd change their minds, but I wasn't that lucky. Following an exciting year, José Andrés concludes the run of his temporary destination, America Eats Tavern, on July 4, 2012.

To honor its amazing run and to celebrate our nation’s Independence, America Eats will offer a special menu from July 2 to July 4, featuring many of the restaurants most requested items. With a Fourth of July barbecue theme, featured dishes include Fried Chicken with Cold Slaw, Chesapeake Crab Cakes with Pickled Watermelon Salad, BBQ Beef Short Ribs with Hoppin’ John, Hot Dogs, Maine Lobster Rolls, Strawberry Shortcake and Key Lime Pie. The unique punches, local craft beers, and wide array of historical cocktails served in modern styles that have had critics raving will also be available. The special menu will be offered July 2 and 3 from 11:30am to 10pm and July 4th from 11am to 8pm.  This restaurant is a true treasure and will be missed by all.

Over the coming months, the building at 405 8th Street, NW , which currently houses America Eats Tavern and minibar by josé andrés and is owned by José Andrés and partner Rob Wilder, will undergo reviews and assessments for future renovations.

Not only is America Eats closing, but minibar is moving to an exciting new space at 9th and E Streets (505 9th Street, NW) in the Penn Quarter, formally Zola Wine and Kitchen. The relocation of minibar by josé andrés marks an exciting new chapter in the evolution of the award-winning concept.

Minibar by josé andrés will take reservations in September for seatings beginning in mid October and will expand from its current 6 seats to accommodate several more guests for each service. Throughout the summer, Andrés and the culinary team will travel in Spain, Denmark, Singapore and beyond conducting research and development to create a truly inspired menu.
